Network Monitoring
While preventing an outage is a primary objective, being notified or that outage the moment it occurs is a close second.  The Engineer's Edition Toolset contains an entire series of alerting tools.  Leading this category is the award winning Network Performance Monitor and the Network Monitor.  While many applications require remote hardware agents or data collectors to be installed, SolarWinds uses standard networking protocol.  This allows SolarWinds to maximize the information collected without adding additional undue overhead to your network.

SolarWinds Real-Time Interface Monitor can display many statistics from Routers and Switches simultaneously.  Statistics such as Interface / Port status, time of last change, current receive and transmit traffic rates, interface percent utilization, duplex settings, collisions, alignment errors, runts, giants, and many others.

This release supports over a 200 standard and vendor proprietary statistics.

Network Monitor - Keep you thumb on the pulse of your network 24 hours a day with Network Monitor.  It will monitor hundreds of nodes concurrently and provide visual alert indicators, Audible Alarms as well as send e-mail messages and pages when devices fail to respond.  Network Monitor archives up to 3 years of Graphical history of your high speed monitored nodes and lets you drill into the results.  You can view fully interactive charts of response time and packet loss.  Use the mouse to highlight an area of the chart and drill in for more detail.

Network Performance Monitor - This application is a real-time performance management tool that can track network latency, packet loss, traffic and bandwidth usage, and many other network statistics.  It can also monitor each managed node and interface via SNMP to report when a node reboots or an interface goes down.  The Network Performance Monitor is ideal for monitoring the bandwidth utilization of your routers, switches and servers providing online and historical charts of your network performance.

Bandwidth Monitor  - The Bandwidth Monitor application can collect data and produce charts detailing traffic and utilization on your interfaces and circuits.

The Bandwidth Monitor is ideal for monitoring the bandwidth utilization of a usage based service provider.  It is also great for isolating traffic bottlenecks within your network.  The advanced graphing utility lets you drill into the results real-time.

SysLog Server  - This tool listens for incoming Syslog messages on UDP port 514 and then decodes the messages for logging  purposes. With the SolarWinds Syslog Server you can also send Syslog messages to another syslog server. This feature is commonly used to add messages manually to a remote syslog database during a system upgrade or while troubleshooting a network problem.

Watch It! - Keep your thumb on the pulse of your network. Never again answer the phone to be told a server is down. With Watch It! you can monitor the availability of several devices. Watch It! will notify you the moment a router, circuit, or server becomes unavailable.  Watch It! will keep you posted on their status with green, yellow and red alert indicators.
