With the
'Remote Extension Kit' the full potential SNMPc's distributed
architecture can be accessed. For a one off payment you can purchase a
licence for an unlimited number remote SNMPc consoles, Java browser
consoles and remote pollers. You can run the remote console application from any Windows workstation using a local or remote TCP/IP connection. All SNMPc Enterprise functions are available from remote consoles. Each console can have complete read-write access, independent of other console sessions. JAVA Console The SNMPc Remote Access Extension supports a JAVA based remote console. The JAVA console can be used from any Internet or Intranet connected computer, including Apple, Linux and Windows systems. The SNMPc Java Console is optimized for low speed WAN lines, making it well suited for use by outsourced Network Service and Help Desk personnel. Basic functionality includes topology map displays, event log views, and real-time MIB table/graph displays. Long-term trend reports can be viewed after selection with a calendar control. Also included is a JAVA proxy Telnet application for configuration of Cisco routers and other devices. Remote Polling Agents Polling Agents perform discovery of locally attached network devices. Each Polling Agent uses discovery filters, based on network addresses to limit the scope of the discovered topology. The discovery algorithm determines the device type, its network attachments, and supported protocols, including IP, SNMP, Telnet, and HTTP (WEB). Polling Agents monitor the status and alarm thresholds for discovered devices using ICMP and SNMP requests. Polling Agents also save long term MIB statistics in a local database. Status changes and alarms are forwarded to SNMPc Enterprise Servers. | |||
