Norman history abounds at La Ducrie. The
rear elevation points almost due north. It is powerful,
menacing and threatening, designed to dissuade attack from all
but the most foolhardy. Arrowslits still exist in the sides of
the main tower. Almost Scottish in its architectural feel, La
Ducrie confirms that defensive architecture is amost
universal.
