| Detailed information is shown in Status Windows
InterMapper provides a great amount of information about any device when you need it, but doesn't clutter the screen with details. Any device that speaks SNMP protocols, such as routers, switches, hubs, or servers can be queried in this way. To do this, InterMapper uses status windows to display information only when the mouse is clicked and held down on a device or link. Letting the mouse button go causes the windows to disappear. (The images on this page illustrate the kinds of information available from the status window.) These windows also tear off so the information will persist in a window that floats above the map. The figure at the right shows the information available when clicking on a link of a router. Note that the information includes: the device's name and port (ifIndex), its speed, IP, AppleTalk and Mac addresses, utilization, and the transmit and receive traffic counts.
The figure at the left shows the statistics associated with a router, switch or bridge. Note that this includes the device's DNS name and IP address, the protocol used to poll it, its uptime, packet loss statistics, and spanning tree information |
