Sub-maps and Drill DownInterMapper provides a way to view the state of a map (a "sub-map") through an icon on a top-level map. The top-level icon's color matches the most serious condition on the sub-map. This gives the ability to hide the details of parts of the network on several submaps, while making it easy to keep an eye on the top-level map.
Drill downWhen the top-level map shows a problem, it's easy to drill down to see the details using InterMapper Remote. The sub-map opens, showing the full details.
Enhanced Visibility with SecuritySub-maps may be on the local machine, or can be running on InterMapper located at another site. InterMapper's sub-maps work across direct IP network connections and VPNs, and through firewalls, by communicating through a user-selected port to communicate between the InterMapper servers. Access to submaps is controlled by user name and passwords, as well as IP address restrictions. Consultants use this capability by running a copy of InterMapper behind the firewall at their client's site. This provides a detailed view of the client's network from inside the firewall, without exposing their critical equipment to the broader Internet. |
